BIOGRAPHY
|
Ivo Bouwman studied interior design at the School of Arts in The Hague. Before long his
early interests in fine art paintings took over from his practical approach of architecture.
As a volunteer he set out with Hans Cramer, an art dealer in 17th century paintings.
This is where he learnt the basic tricks of the trade.

First buy
Ending a summer of working day jobs, Ivo started buying and selling his first paintings at the age of 16.
Work of serious importance followed around his 20th with the purchase of a Leo Gestel, an investment that
would prove to be the basis of his future career in the Art world.
The search for new objects is a never-ending fascination. Art is his passion and Ivo is always on the
lookout for new challenges. He often makes the headlines, as was the case in 1999, with the sale of
"Guusje" by Kees van Dongen to the Van Gogh museum for just over a million dollars.
'The Antiques Road Show'
Today Bouwman is one of our nation's most acclaimed art connoisseurs. Many praise his expertise and eye for beauty.
A broad Dutch audience got to know him as one of the regular appraisal experts, appearing in the Dutch version of
'The Antiques Road Show', where he gives summaries and appraisals of a variety of works of art.
Attention
In 1972 he set out his first business enterprise with the start of Art Dealership Ivo Bouwman BV, a venture
not without success. The founding of 'NEXUS Modern Art' in 1999 did not come as a complete surprise to those
who know him. His passion for modern art receives as much attention as does his focus on late 18th and early 20th
century art.
With two businesses, two children and two women (his wife Frea and his personal assistant Anneleen) Ivo prides
himself in being the luckiest man on the Internet.
